Reclaiming Your Life – Supporting Your Self

The Caregiver Project Writing Workshop

The Caregiver Project is an online writing workshop in the Amherst Method (AWA) for those who, in providing care for another or for others, may be feeling overwhelmed, stressed and/or burned out.

AWA offers the Caregiver Project – a writing workshop – to help cope with isolation and stress, and to support your healthful self-care practices.

The Caregiver Project is a chance to experience writing in a group with peers who deal with similar challenges every day.  It allows you to connect, to express yourself and to affirm, through bearing witness and having your own writing listened to, that you are absolutely not alone.

The facilitators of this session are Sue Reynolds and Dr. Meadow Jones.

Sue Reynolds is a psychotherapist, a writer and a writing facilitator passionate about the Amherst Writers and Artists method. She is both past president of the Writers Community of Durham Region and past vice-president of the national Canadian Creative Writers and Writing Programs (Canada’s version of the AWP). She has served on the board of AWA since 2014. For thirteen years she led writing workshops for female inmates at Central East Correctional Centre, a program for which she received the 2007 June Callwood Award for Outstanding Volunteerism. Through workshops, international retreats, sanctuaries and courses, Sue helps writers dig deep to mine their own authentic treasure.

Dr. Meadow Jones received her PhD from the University of Illinois, where she was consistently recognized as a “Teacher of Excellence” by the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. She has facilitated arts and writing practices and groups for participants who were undergraduates, artists, activists, teachers, teenagers, trauma survivors, prisoners, physicians and friends.
